FATHERS DAY FRAGRANCE GUIDE // IYAAJAY

June 17, 2015

Its that age old panicking time again, yep, Fathers Day.
I don't know about you, but my Dad is literally the WORST person to try and get presents for as he doesnt seem to like anything, and gives NO hints whatsoever, so its a real struggle.

However, I seem to have found the perfect gift.

Aftershave is something that people don't often buy for themselves, so why not treat them and give the gift of great scents? Its a no brainer!

Ive picked 3 fragrances that I think will work perfectly for Fathers Day, plus they'll also gain extra brownie points for effort too.

Starting off with the more varied option, I would suggest the Jack Wills gifts trio, comprising of their classic scents of Start Bay, Cavalry Twills (also known as the scent of their stores) and their own named scent too in travel friendly bottles, perfect for switching up scents without wasting money on larger bottles. Cavalry Twill, with notes of orange, bergamot, sage, lavender, fern, tobacco leaf and sequoia wood is a heady mix but also stands out from the crowd and also fits perfectly with everyday scents. The eponymous scent has vibrant blend of herbal, citrus and green top notes including; tarragon, armoise, lemon, bergamot, pine, galbanum & birch leaf. This is supported by middle notes of lavender & patchouli & a base of oriental woods, labdanum & sandalwood, leading it to the perfect scent for holidays, especially in these small bottles too. Start Bay has notes of tarragon and lemon, with oriental woods and sandalwood, meaning its the perfect beachy scent for during the day.

(Whilst searching for these scents and the gifts, I found out that sadly Jack Wills don't sell these anymore, but I discovered Boots have some stock of their eponymous scent here so act quickly!)

One of my personal favourites, the Chanel Allure Homme Sport, would make an incredible gift on Fathers Day. The sleek silver glass bottle screams luxury and sophistication, and the bold, intriguingly noticeable scent is perfect too. With notes of Italian mandarin, cedar and tonic bean, this fragrance's longevity is beyond compare and settles to a really warming scent. If this scent is a little weaker then what your looking for, I would suggest trying the Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme here which offers a bolder version of the original fragrance.

This one is one of the gifts my Dad will be receiving this year after I did play a little trick on him when making this decision. I sprayed the Lacoste L!VE Eau De Toilette and said that I was checking fragrances out to pick up at duty free, but in actual fact I was seeing which ones he liked, and luckily, he picked this one. Released last year, L!VE has notes of lime, liquorice, and aquatic notes, to create a fresh, zingy scent thats lively and bold, perfect for the guy on the go. I went for the smaller bottle so its easier to travel with as he doesn't really like to take huge bottles away, plus if he likes it before then, we can also pick up another one whilst away. This scent is really different to other 'fresh' scents, and is definitely one most guys wouldn't be brave enough to try, so why not take the risk?

Which one would you pick? Let me know below!

Until next time guys,

Jay
